St. Petersburg is a historical city in Russia. St. Petersburg was also known as Petrograd and Leningrad. It is located on bank of River Neva. Petersburg was founded by Peter the Great in 1703.
PETER AND PAUL FORTRESS
Peter and Paul fortress was founded by Peter the Great. It was built in the 18th Century. It has also served as prison of political criminals. It was converted in museum in 1924.

HERMITAGE MUSEUM
Hermitage is a museum of art and culture in Saint Petersburg having precious collections. It was founded by Empress Catherine the Great. Hermitage has gradually expanded and now includes winter palace which was residence of Tsars.

WINTER PALACE
Winter Palace was royal residence of Tsars from 1732 to 1917 till revolution in Russia. It is a huge palace covering around 14.2 hectares. It has 1886 doors, 1945 windows, 1500 rooms and 117 staircases. It is now part of Hermitage.

CHURCH OF THE SAVIOR ON SPILLED BLOOD
Church of the Savior on spilled Blood is an orthodox Church in Saint Petersburg. It was constructed during 1883 to 1907. It has been constructed on the site where Alexander II was assassinated in 1881.

ST. ISSAC CATHEDRAL
St. Issac’s cathedral is a landmark cathedral built dedicated to St Issac, who was patrol saint of Peter the Great. It was built on the orders of Tsar Alexander I during 1818 to 1858. It is major attraction of Petersburg.

BRONZE HORSEMAN
Bronze Horseman is statue of Peter the Great on horse at Senate Square in St. Petersburg. It was commissioned by Catherine the Great. It was sculpted by French Sculptor Etienne Maurice Falconet. It was opened to public in 1782.

YUSUPOV PALACE
Yusupov Palace or Moika Palace is the palace where Rasputin was assassinated. It was residence of noble Yusupov Family who were extremely rich. It was built around 1776. It was nationalized after revolution and has been converted into museum.

MARIINSKY THEATRE
Mariinsky Theatre is an old opera house in St. Petersburg which was opened in 1860. The Theatre has been named after Empress Maria Alexandrovna. It is yet functional.

PALACE BRIDGE
Palace Bridge in Petersburg connects Palace square and Vasilevsky. It was built during 1912 to 1916. The total length of the bridge is 260.1 meter. The bridge is made is way that it can be raised at night for giving way to ships.
