BELEM TOWER
Belem Tower was built in 16th Century. It is symbol of maritime of Portugal. It was built on small island in Tagus River. The great explorers of the Portugal started their expedition form this tower. It is UNESCO World Heritage.

NATIONAL PANTHEON
National Pantheon was built in 17th century. It was originally a church, which was later converted to National Pantheon. Important Portuguese personalities are buried here.

JERONIMOS MONASTERY
Jeronimos Monastery was built in 16th Century near the launch point of Vasco da Gama first journey. Its construction was funded by tax on profits of yearly Portuguese India Armadas mainly for spice trade. It became a necropolis of Portuguese royal dynasty but its ownership was transferred to the charitable institution.

LISBON CATHEDRAL
The Cathedral of Saint Mary Major, also known as Lisbon Cathedral is oldest church in Lisbon. It has been built in 1147. The Cathedral has survived several earthquakes.

CASTELO DE SAO JORGE
This castle is know as St, George’s Castle. It is situated on the hill top and offers a panoramic view of the Lisbon.

MONUMENTS TO THE DISCOVERIES
This monument has been built to celebrate discoveries made by Portuguese explorers during 15th and 16th centuries. It is situated on the northern bank of river Tagus. It was inaugurated on 9th August, 1960.

COMMMERCE SQUARE
Commerce square is a grand square located on the bank of river Tagus. Royal palace of Riberia used to stand there, which was destroyed in 1755 earthquake. Equestrian statue of Joseph I of Portugal stands at the centre of the Commmerce Plaza.

RUA AUGUSTA ARCH
Rua Augusta Arch was built to celebrate the reconstruction of Lisbon after 1755 earthquake. It is adorned by statutes of several historical figures.

CARMO CONVENT
Carmo convent was destroyed in 1755 earthquake in Portugal. The ruins of the convent is one of the Lisbon’s important tourist destination. In summers, it is used for open air concerts.
